Night Till Dawn
"Ahhh!"A shout from the driver of an excavator was heard.
His colleague runs from a distance and attends to him."What happened to you?"His colleague asks.
" My limbs are hurting."The operator replied.
" How did you get hurt? You're not following the safety precautions?" The colleague reprimands him.
" No, I did follow but something creepy caught me up. I can't figure out what is it. I only saw a shadow cause it was dark." The operator told him.
" Okay, I think it is just a wild animal. I will bring you to the clinic."The colleague guess.
Three nights and two days in a row the same thing happened. They were alarmed by the situation because one by one the excavators had injuries or their equipment malfunctioned during the operation. They informed the boss already because of the series of events that happened that they get out of control.
In a small village at a distance from the mining field, there is a small house located on the upper hill near the seashore. Living it is an old lady and an adorable young man. They live a quiet and peaceful life.
"Zhan, Zhan wake up I have news for you," Grandma said while panting. She went to the village to exchange her harvests for anything needed at their home.
"Mamo what is it again? I'm still sleepy."He yawned and lazily sit on the bed.
"You know the brother of Pesty working as an excavator? He was injured last night. He was the last victim of that wild beast's attack." The grandmother told him panicking.
" Who told you it's a wild beast? Did they see it? He asks curiously.
" I don't know I just heard it from Pesty. Now I'm telling you to stop your hunting in the forest we don't know what might happen so you must not go out to avoid danger."
"Mamo, don't you worry too much about it. I can take care of myself. "He smiled assuring her.
" I heard that the operation will be stopped temporarily."
"Why stop temporarily? It must stop. Well, I think they all want to be harmed if they continue destroying the habitat of the wild animals." He gets annoyed.
" Why are you saying that? You also hunt for wild animals. What's the difference? Since the operation of that mine, it helps our poor men to have good-paying jobs that they can feed their children well. The grandmother mocks him.
He whined," Mamo, of course, there's a difference I only hunt for those harmful animals to humans. Yes, they prefer to destroy the mountains and trees to earn more money than planting crops."
The grandmother continues" I heard that the boss will be coming to visit to solve this problem."
Then, he gets panicked. Huh,
Chapter 1
A man was standing and looking gloomy at the terrace of his room watching the city lights. He was thinking about the circumstances of his life. This life wasn't his anymore he was only going with the flow of the events. Lan Yibo was fed up with the demands of his parents. When he was studying at the University he changed his course from a bachelor's degree in business administration to a bachelor's degree in theater arts, drama, and performing. He even graduated with a master's degree just to please both of them. Then, after graduation, he accepted the position of CEO. He knew to himself that he can't escape from the reality of his situation he had to say goodbye to his dreams of being an actor and as a sole heir he had to be a responsible child. Lately, his mother is demanding he attend parties to meet with the other businessmen to have social interactions and propose business deals which he doesn't like. Talking and pretending to be pleased with their presence is out of his character but he can't deny that it can help with their business connections so, he follows every demand that those instances bore him to death. Now because he is in his 30s, and hasn't been in a relationship his mother has selected a few candidates for him to choose from the daughters of other wealthy men to expand their businesses.
While they were eating breakfast his mother again pestered him. "Son, you have a date with the daughter of Mr. Ty. She is Luan. 7:00 at night at our restaurant Hotel Ville she chose the place . Pls. don't be late."
" Mom, you know I'm busy. I don't have time for that."He is pissed off. He's not interested in those women's flirty attitudes towards him.
" Son just listen to your mom. It's good for you. You have to socialize." His father convinced him.
He frowned and didn't talk anymore. He has realized that whatever he does he can't please them. All they think is for their business to prosper. He is just a means to use for their one goal. His life doesn't matter whether he's happy or not. He wants to escape from their grasp but can't think of the best things to do. He traveled and didn't inform them because he is upset.
One of their business is a mining company that got a problem with the personnel. He don't want to rely on the senior staff so he came to the site.
He asks one of the operation managers about the real situation.
" Boss every time we start the operations there is this creature trying to harm the drivers of the equipment or sometimes the machines and even equipment malfunction during the process. We have observed the CCTV recording but only a dark shadow is captured we can't figure out what it is." The operation manager stated.
" What specific situation usually occurs?"
"Every time we start quarrying the untouched mountains. I think he's guarding them to not be destroyed. That's the only possible reason I have concluded for now. It's good that they were not harmed critically but if we insist I don't know what will happen maybe worse." The operation manager assumed.
" Hmm, possible."Lan Yibo presumes based on the scenario the man has narrated. He thinks of possible solutions. They can't continue the operation he can't just sacrifice the life of the operators only to gain. He isn't that greedy. He told his assistant to call for an emergency meeting to discuss a better solution to the problem.
" Gentlemen as you know we're gathered here to propose a better solution for this alarming problem in the field. We can't possibly expand for open-pit mining because of that night's beast harming our operators." The miner engineer said.
" I think we have to inform the cops to capture it." The operations manager suggested.
" Yes, good idea. We have to ask for the help of the authority."The mining manager agreed.
